Cake Stand of the Month 'June'

Continuing with our featured 'cake stand of the month' series we have 'June'.

The Caverswell china June plate is decorated with delightful illustrations and sweet quotations from the book "A Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady" by Edith Holden.

"The pleached bower
Where honeysuckles, ripened by the sun,
Forbid the sun to enter."
'Much Ado' Shakespeare

Beautiful native British flowers. Buttercups, honeysuckle flowers, wild pink roses and foxgloves with butterflies fluttering around the borders of the plate. We've chosen a complementary Royal Albert 'English Rose' pattern plate for the middle tier and for the top a vintage Aynsley tea plate in pastel green with a pretty floral motif in the centre. The calming soft colours of summer.

On a day like today when the rain pelted down hard and we were soaked to the skin we can at least look forward to June in hope of warmth and sun. This cake stand really makes me smile. Those summer days will come!

In case you missed it last month here is our 'May' mixed china cake stand.
How quickly the seasons change and time flies by! I'm planning ahead for 'July'!

Quirky Cake Stands for a Mad Tea Party

If you're looking for a truly original centre piece for your tea party we've created a collection of vintage mixed china cake stands with a quirky twist. These cute three tier cake stands are topped with little bowls for you to fill up with smarties and other colourful sweeties, or flowers or chocolate fingers or lollipops or bread sticks...well anything you fancy really. For a Mad Tea Party you can be as imaginative as you like.

We have a "Regal" tiered cake stand created from Royal Albert and other china plates dating from around the 1920's or thereabouts. The style seems to be a transition from the Art Nouveau movement with the naturalistic flowers and garlands to Art Deco when geometric shapes and patterns were in vogue. We have topped this cake stand with a sugar bowl. Très chic!

The Royal Worcester "Mayfield" sugar bowl and Grosvenor China "Wung Tu" plate were a match made in heaven. Tastefully complemented with a Royal Doulton blue and cream "Albany" cake plate.

For those Alices in Wonderland who require an authentic Mad Tea Party I hope you'll enjoy this pretty gold and pink rose vintage tiered cake stand topped with a mini Sadler teapot.

Add a touch of vintage romance to your tea party with this hand crafted rose scented candle in a vintage "Lavender Lady" cream jug with matching tea plate. When the light starts to fade the light will glow elegantly through the china.

Of course, you can always mix and match your china in a colourway or theme of your choice. We have a collection of beautiful 'ready to party' tea sets available. For a Mad Tea Party it has to be quirky!

Those long lazy summer days will soon be here and what better way to enjoy an afternoon in the sun or a warm evening outdoors than with a tea party? Mix and match gorgeous patterns and beautiful china and serve strawberries and cream in quirky vintage style.
