Vintage bone china mismatched teacups and saucers
Shabby Chic ~ Well it certainly does not mean chipped or cracked or so worn that there is no pattern left. Shabby Chic represents a now generic form of interior design where furnishings are selected for their aged and worn appearance. Ideally soft and feminine with a romantic and nostalgic vintage appeal. We use the term shabby chic to refer to porcelain china of excellent quality with a beautiful pattern or shape that has previously been used and is no longer in production. If we do not bring these fabulous chinaware items back into use then they will be left forgotten at the back of a cupboard somewhere or even worse, lost forever.
A pink vintage china tea set and quirky cake stand
The vintage plates used to make our cake stands are often older than great grandma. They are functional wares that were designed to be used and appreciated. Reclaimed vintage pieces do sometimes show signs of crazing and feint scratches or utensil marks on the surface. Usually the gold gilding on the edge is worn from decades of handling and cleaning. This age related wear is entirely authentic and adds character and charm to the piece. Well used is well loved. Our china cake stands and tea sets are not new items that have been rubbed, scrubbed or painted and distressed to look old. They are the real thing! In our opinion, that's the true meaning of shabby chic!
